Review of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 : shadows of the past

Synopsis : The highly anticipated 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3', is the third chapter of the iconic Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, starring Kartik Aaryan , Tripti Dimri , Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan in the lead roles. It has been directed by Anees Bazmee. The genre of this film is horror- comedy, where 'Ruhaan' ( Kartik Aaryan) is playing the role of a ghostbuster ' Rooh Baba' and he is the central character of this movie. Like the previous installment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa , in this part also , Rooh Baba claims himself to be an exorcist but actually he was a fraudster. The film once again begins with the story of a haunted mansion , where the dark secrets have been burried for over 200 years. When Rooh Baba reaches that haunted palace to help the members of the royal family and to liberate that cursed palace from the evil forces, he confronts with the evil spirit of 'Manjulika'.


Re - evaluation : Talking of performances , Kartik Aaryan's performance was top - notch , showcasing his exceptional acting skills, impressive expressions and captivating dance moves. Rajpal Yadav, the comedy king , brought his signature wit to the role as Chhota pandit, which brought a roller coaster of laughs to the role. Meanwhile, Ashwini kalsekar added her comedic brilliance to the film, which made the film more fabulous. Vidya Balan makes a comeback to the franchise, reprising her role of the iconic character - 'Manjulika' from the first part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise in 2007. Additionally, the iconic classical dance on 'Ami Je Tomar 3.0 'song by Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan adds charisma to this film. Especially, Madhuri Dixit's Kathak and Vidya Balan's Bharatanatyam and Odissi captivates audience. Though it was tough to match the legendary style of Madhuri Dixit's Kathak, Vidya Balan pushes herself and works hard which adds grace as well as elegance to her performance. She matches the energy of Madhuri and delivers a captivating performance. Despite limited screen time, Madhuri Dixit's charismatic presence , stoles the attention of the movie, leaving a lasting impression. Her captivating performance made her brief appearance. She could have been given more screen time, then it would have been more engaging for the craving audience. Tripti Dimri's performance could have been more better in this film. Kanchan Mullick's presence in the role of 'Angrakshak' adds charisma to the flim. Despite of having limited dialogues on this film, his spot- on comic expressions, body language and gestures elevate the movie's humour making it more hilarious.However, the first half of the movie started off slowly, focusing more on comedy than horror, which made it feel somewhat underwhelming. However, it picked up pace later on, striking a better balance between humor and thrills."

There were lots of twist in this movie and it had an amazing story-line . Additionally, there were also a social message which was given through this movie. The turning point of the movie, the climax part was outstanding and it also raised a goosebumps of the audience. The shooting locations of this film we're breathtaking, particularly the scenes filmed on the iconic 'Howrah Bridge' of Kolkata. While the background score, particularly the haunting themes , ramps up tention and builds up suspense among the audience. Overall the soundtrack significantly enhances the movies enjoyment. The movie holds it suspense till the end and creates a lots of confusion that -who is the real ghost or the Manjulika? Which makes the audience unpredictable till the end. The melodious song by Shreya Ghoshal 'Ami Je Tomar 3.0' touches our heart and Sonu Nigam's rendition of ' Mere Dholna ' was outstanding which commanded a special attention and his version was kept secret until the climax part was revealed which elevates the movies emotional impact . Overall, this film is a perfect blend of horror and humour, which engages as well as entertains their audience till the end. Therefore it's a must watch for anyone who is looking for a thrilling and laugh -out loud experience.
