Unveiling Inner Strength : Women Empowerment Through Arts

On 29 th November, a cultural program and fashion show were organized under the 'Ichhapuran banner by Bullan Pal' and her team. The event took place at the historic Minerva Theatre in Kolkata, a nearly 200-year-old landmark that has hosted many renowned performances by legendary personalities such as Binodini Dasi and many other prominent figures. This iconic theatre itself embodies the rich cultural heritage and historical authenticity of Kolkata.
The program commenced promptly at 5:00 p.m. with Bullan Pal inaugurating the event through a heartfelt speech. The program was meticulously divided into four segments. It began with a melodious welcome song - 'Ei Sundor Swarnali Sondhyay', followed by two more traditional Bengali songs that set the tone for the evening. Then the program's special event, the fashion show and ramp walk, took center stage. This unique attraction featured models walking the ramp alongside Bengali poetry recitals. Generally, we have seen that, in most of the ramp walks the models prefer walking with music or any kinds of beats. However, this program stood out, by making entry of models along with poetry recitals, which gives a unique touch and captivates the audiences highly . Bullan Pal, the showstopper, made a stunning entrance in a beautiful pink boutique saree.

The event showcased four model groups, with a special highlight being the ramp show's focus on featuring models across various age groups, from 8 to 80. All the models who performed on stage belonged to 'Pilsuj Academy' , trained by Bullan Pal herself.The fasion show begins with the senior group, they all were dressed in an elegant Maharashtrian-style sarees and they all looked gorgeous on their beautiful outfit . They stole the show with their confidence, accompanied by poetry recitals. There were also a senior male model who dressed up in traditional dhoti- punjabi attire and walked confidently on the ramp along with senior model group. The junior model groups also delivered impressive performance along with poetry recitals ( Ami Bristi Hobo), whose author was Susmita Das and Voice by Suman Goswami. Another notable group was the 'Atpoure group', which also showcased their talents on the ramp.The models of this group wore a traditional Bengali red-bordered white sarees, perfectly capturing and showcasing the authentic essence of Bengali culture.

Bulan Pal and her team conveyed a powerful message through this program , that is - age should never be a barrier, for showcasing one's talent. Bulan emphasized, ''Don't focus on your external beauty , if you have the potential, come forward and show the world what you can do." She challenged the conventional notion that the modeling world is dominated by young adults, asserting that true beauty lies in one's inner spirit and self-confidence, which remain lifelong.The program also featured the Ranjini Boutique group, where models showcased stunning sarees from the boutique, sponsored for the event. Bulan Pal herself wore a beautiful pink saree from the collection. Suchismita Banerjee, the founder of Ranjini Boutique, was in attendance and delivered a speech about her newly launched startup brand.


Following the fashion show, Fullora Mukherjee, a distinguished author and recitation artist, presented a poignant drama accompanied by her recitation. The drama portrayed the journey of a girl from childhood to adulthood highlighting the traumatic experience of
a girl , being physically abused by others, highlighting the harsh realities of violence and trauma that many women faces while growing up. And lastly, a play was presented by Bulan Pal herself, where she played the character of a teenage girl ,who belongs to a poor family. The play showcased how the family members of the young girl are tormented due to their poverty and how an uneducated helpless father turns into a superhero to protect his daughter from the culprits.
Overall, the entire show revolved around the theme of women empowerment, emphasizing a girl's right to feel safe everywhere and deserving of respect. This powerful social message was conveyed through various segments of the program.The event proudly upheld Indian authenticity, with participants wearing only traditional outfits throughout the fashion show and other segments. The event culminated in a spectacular fashion show, featuring a diverse range of models, including seniors, juniors, and males, all showcasing stunning traditional attire. The fashion show was a testament to Bulan Pal's vision of promoting inclusivity and celebrating talent across all ages.The organizers also made an exciting announcement that, Fullora Mukherjee will present her next program on December 16th, promising another captivating event.
